Project description
VISNET, a NoE continued as VISNET II, aims to create a sustainable world force of leading research groups in the field of networked audiovisual (AV) media technologies applied to home platforms. The member institutions have grouped together to set up a network of excellence with a clear vision for integration, research and dissemination plans. The research activities within VISNET will cover several disciplines related to networked AV systems and home platforms. These are:
- Creation/Coding of AV content for immersive platforms
- Storage and transport of AV information over heterogeneous networks
- AV analysis techniques for immersive communications
- Security of AV content and transmissions
DMAG activity
Our work inside this project will comprise several activities, including:
- Metadata-based video compression schemes
- Interoperability of formats and data models
- Design and analysis of protocols for secure distribution
- Adaptation of protection techniques currently supported to AV transmissions
- Specification of appropriate key distribution for the needs of AV secure transmissions
- Use of metadata to provide information related to access control
- Participation in Standardisation bodies (mainly CEN/ETSI)
- Design protocols for anonymous purchase based on asymmetric watermarking
